Lisa Silver

Music Teacher

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Lisa moved to Nashville in 1972 after attending the University of Michigan School of Music. Lisa is a classically trained violinist, and has had a long and successful career as a studio musician, vocalist, and songwriter. Lisa is the Music Director/Cantorial Soloist at Congregation Micah, and teaches music to preschoolers at Micah Children’s Academy.  She enjoys sharing her varied musical experience and love of many musical styles with children of all ages, and joined the Akiva staff as the K-2 Music Specialist in 2013. Lisa is a Grammy-nominated songwriter, and has had numerous songs recorded by well-known Nashville recording artists. Several of her Jewish songs have been published by the URJ, and are performed in synagogues and Jewish Day Schools around the country. Lisa is married to musician Clayton Ivey and has a grown daughter, Olivia. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and watching HGTV.
