Arik Shur

Board of Trustees

Arik Shur grew up attending Montgomery County (MD) Public Schools which helped instill in him the belief that all kids, regardless of their background, deserve the opportunity to receive a great education and blaze their own paths in this world. In 2009, he moved to Nashville to help found Teach For America – Nashville, which recruits and develops college graduates to teach in high-poverty schools.  As their Managing Director of Partnerships and Development, Arik led efforts to raise more than $5 million annually from local public and private sources. Currently, Arik is the founding Director of Operations for Relay Graduate School of Education in Nashville, which trains local teachers and school leaders to prepare their students to succeed in college and life.

Arik has a B.A. in Metropolitan Studies and a M.P.A. in Nonprofit Management from New York University. He is also a member of the Nashville Jewish Social Justice Roundtable’s Steering Committee, and a proud alumnus of Nashville Emerging Leaders and the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps, where he met his wife Lindsay. They live together in East Nashville with their daughter Dora and their two very large, very loveable cats.
