Admissions

At Akiva, we are dedicated to providing an unparalleled learning experience for your child.

Akiva Community Day School is a co-educational elementary Jewish day school open to all children with at least one Jewish parent who wish to obtain an excellent secular and Jewish education. Superior general academic studies, elective studies, arts and physical education programs are integrated with Judaic studies in a personal, child-centered environment.

Our dual heritage, as Jews and as Americans, and the expression of our dual heritage, sum up why Akiva Community Day School exists. At Akiva, we teach our students Pirke Avot and we show them the 'Bill of Rights.' Both are at the core of our dual heritage, as Americans and as Jews - and Akiva is the only place in Nashville that offers the opportunity to study both in detail.

You will feel welcomed

As a community day school, we bring together a unique cross-section of families from Nashville's Jewish community. Reform, Chabad, Orthodox, and Conservative affiliations are included among our students, our faculty and staff, and our Board of Directors.

The cultural mix of our school is broad - including Israeli, Persian, South American, and Russian backgrounds. At Akiva, children of different levels of Jewish observance learn and play together, forming life-long bonds of friendship, trust and respect.

Families with varying degrees of observance are welcome. While deeply committed to our shared Jewish heritage, Akiva is not affiliated with any one branch of Judaism. We respect each family's personal decisions regarding religious observance. While we provide our students with their primary Jewish education, we recognize that parents may choose to supplement our program with after-school or Religious School programs offered by their congregations.
